Pick and Place the Chair Game
Oxford Montessori and School System – Kids Activity Time
At Oxford Montessori and School System, we believe that fun-filled activities play a vital role in the early development of children. Our recent classroom activity was specially designed to help kids learn essential classroom rules and the value of independent work in an engaging and enjoyable way.
The activity was a game titled “Pick and Place the Chair”, which turned a simple classroom object into a powerful learning tool. In this game, each child was asked to pick a chair from a designated area and place it in the correct position in the classroom. The student who correctly placed the chair first won the game. While it may sound simple, this fun activity was designed to build discipline, understanding of order, responsibility, and teamwork.
During the activity, the children were guided to perform the task quietly and confidently. They followed instructions, took turns, and helped one another – all while developing motor skills and strengthening their ability to listen and follow rules. This kind of self-directed activity promotes independence and confidence among young learners.
Moreover, this game subtly taught the importance of classroom rules such as keeping things in their place, listening carefully, and working responsibly. Kids learned to manage their work on their own, improving their sense of responsibility and organization.
The excitement and laughter that filled the room showed that learning can be joyful. Every student participated actively, and even those who didn’t win showed great sportsmanship and enthusiasm.
At Oxford, we aim to create an environment where children not only study but also develop social and emotional skills that will help them throughout life. Activities like these reflect our commitment to creative learning and child-centered development.
