Precautions of Eyes Infections

Please read below precautions and apply on your daily life to protect yourself.

Hand Hygiene: 

Well washing your hands with cleaning soap and water for at the least 20 seconds is critical in stop

ping the unfold of eye infections. Keep away from touching your face, specifically your eyes, with unwashed arms.



Avoid Eye Contact: 

If someone you know has an eye infection or any other contagious illness, try to maintain a safe distance to avoid transmission. Avoid sharing personal items such as towels or cosmetics.

Use Tissues or Elbow:

When sneezing or coughing, use a tissue to cover your mouth and nose, or cough/sneeze into your elbow. This helps prevent the spread of respiratory droplets that can contain the virus.



Avoid Rubbing Your Eyes: 


Touching your eyes with contaminated hands can introduce viruses or bacteria into your eyes. Try to avoid rubbing your eyes.


Good Hygiene Practices:

If you wear contact lenses, make sure to follow proper hygiene guidelines for their use and cleaning. Avoid sleeping in contact lenses unless your optometrist or ophthalmologist recommends it.



Seek Medical Advice:

If you or someone you know experiences eye symptoms like redness, itching, discharge, or pain, it's essential to seek medical advice promptly. Do not self-diagnose or self-medicate, as eye infections can vary in severity and require different treatments.



Follow Medical Advice:


If diagnosed with an eye infection, follow the treatment plan prescribed by a healthcare professional, which may include the use of prescribed eye drops or ointments.



Quarantine and Isolation:

If you or someone you know is diagnosed with a contagious eye infection, follow quarantine or isolation guidelines as advised by healthcare authorities to prevent its spread to others.

Please note that the specific precautions and guidelines for dealing with any emerging eye virus in Pakistan or elsewhere may vary depending on the nature and severity of the virus. Therefore, it's crucial to stay informed through reliable sources and follow the recommendations of local health authorities and the WHO.
